Why Won't You Die is a crust punk/death metal band formed in 2014 by Tony Avila as a solo project. Around 12 songs were written, recorded, and demoed soon after. Then, later in 2015, a live band was formed. Why Won’t You Die released a tape in 2015 and a CD on Retreat To Nowhere Records in 2018. The live band had a few line-up changes over the years and ended up breaking up in 2019.

Why Won't You Die has played shows with bands like Brujeria, Catheter, Pinata Protest, Capitalist Casualties, Hummingbird of Death, The Accused AD, M.D.C., Vivisick (Japan), Cattle Decapitation, The Drip, Cliterati, Dying Fetus, Incantation, Gatecreeper, Eyehategod, Cro-Mags, Belphegor, and Cryptopsy, among others.

A new track "Hero Turned Villain", has been recorded with new line-up and will be released soon. Why Won't You Die's 1st performance with the will be at Harshest 5 in Montesano, WA, on Saturday, June 17th, 2023.
